Improve the World! SEND A STUDENT THROUGH SCHOOL
Susan H. wanted to go back to school. Her kids were grown and she felt unrewarded in her job as a clerk for a computer store. “I want to feel like I am doing something worthwhile” she said when calling about enrolling in the WRM. Susan had turned her life around 6 years ago when she entered a treatment program for women. Her kids were 13 and 17 when she got sober. She has focused on raising them and providing them with all of the things a good parent wants to give their children.
Susan story is not unusual. We get calls all of the time from people from all walks of life wanting to attend school. Many of these students cannot afford the minimal registration fee or the tuition payments. WRM already assist in this process by offering the lowest fee in the state for academic programs like ours. We even offer scholarships and payment plans. We are not connected with a financial aid institution because are mission is to provide quality education in a low cost effective way. We are a not for profit school and want to stay that way.
Edna is 59 years old and is retired from teaching preschool. She desperately misses helping others and has good teaching skills but needs to learn more about counseling. Her own child has been affected by alcohol abuse and so Edna knows the damage that can be done to a family. Edna is on a fixed income and can’t really spare the money to make the payment plans for her schooling. When Edna called for more information about the school she said, “I think I have a lot to offer with all of my years experience and really want to continue to work, I just don’t know how to fit it in my budget.”
Do you want to help people like Susan or Edna? WRM has set up a special program for donations to be used to support people who want to better themselves but do not have the funds. These potential counselors have the passion and the commitment to learn and to give back to our communities by helping others; they just don’t have the funds to go to school, buy school supplies or other equipment neccessary to succeed.
"How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world." ~Anne Frank

Need Internship placement for AOD supervised Practicum or supervised hours?
You are what you repeatedly do. Excellence is not an event -- it is a habit.
MHS, Inc. is an excellent agency for anyone who is seeking supervised AOD hours. We have many qualified, certified and/or licensed staff who understand the DADP requirements and TAP 21 material. In addition MHS, Inc. and WRM-TA both promote client centered care and focus many internships on gender and culturally appropriate services. Since MHS has six diverse divisions and regions throughout California, an intern has the possibility of training on co-occurring, AOD or Mental Health issues.
